How Does PRP Treatment Work?
Physicians have been using PRP for decades to heal injuries all over the body, including facial injuries. Our own blood contains a healing property called platelets and we use the platelets from the your own body to rejuvenate areas of the face.
We extract samples of the patient’s blood and treat these samples to separate platelets from red blood cells and other components. This produces plasma with high concentrations of platelets, which is why it’s called “platelet rich” plasma. Then our trained and certified staff inject the platelet rich plasma into the areas that need rejuvenation such as around the eyes, forehead, jawbone, mouth, under the chin, on the neck, under the eyes, and above the upper lip. Treatment time typically lasts less than one hour.
Injections of platelet rich plasma stimulate growth and healing by generating new capillaries, improving blood flow, and enhancing collagen production. Patients experience a long-lasting youthful-looking result including tighter skin, more toned skin, smoother skin, and colour-corrected skin. Treatment plans vary depending on the area and severity of skin condition.
